SH Hasu

SH Hasu takes its name and pattern from the hasu (Opsariichthys uncirostris), a predatory, silver-flanked cyprinid native to Lake Biwa and its tributary rivers that itself feeds on smaller fish, making it an unusually apt baitfish for a bass or trout lure to imitate. The SH finish gives the bait a bright silver hue, combined with a dark contrasting back. SH Hasu echoes the real hasu’s build closely enough that Japanese anglers who target both species would recognise it immediately.

Because hasu themselves are open-water hunters, this colour is best fished in lakes and larger rivers with decent visibility, using a steady swim-and-pause retrieve that lets the silver flank flash as it would from a real hasu on the move. It’s a strong choice on Lake Biwa-style venues and any clear-to-moderately-stained water where slim, silver baitfish make up part of the local forage base.
