IL Mirage arrived around 2001 as a sister color to IL Sirius, pairing a translucent golden body with an illusion-painted back that shifts between blue-green and purple depending on the light. It first appeared on the Giant Dog-X and Vibration-X Ultra before making its way onto saltwater rip-in baits and the X-80SW series, and the fine holographic stripes along the flank throw flash at certain angles, giving it the slightly worn, scale-thin look of a real baitfish.
The shifting color and flicker of light are where the “mirage” name comes from, and that combination has made it a genuinely versatile color across freshwater and saltwater alike. The pale orange belly adds just enough extra pop without tipping the finish into full attractor territory, so on the Vision Oneten it suits open-water searching across a range of clarities rather than one narrow condition.
