Megabass Respect 72
The Magome Oikawa is a highly detailed and special color pattern from the Megabass Respect Series, named after the Magome River near the Megabass headquarters and inspired by the Oikawa — a type of minnow-like fish — abundant in that area. Aesthetically, this pattern focuses on realistically imitating the mature male Oikawa in its mating coloration, which results in a rich, slightly darker, and more vibrant tone compared to standard Oikawa patterns. It features a unique combination of intricate hand-painted details, including the faithful reproduction of the small protrusions around the fish’s face called “oiboshi” (chasing stars).
As a realistic baitfish imitation, the Magome Oikawa color is a phenomenal “match the hatch” option, particularly effective when predatory fish, such as bass, are actively feeding on this specific forage. Its slightly darker tone and strong, clear silhouette make it a powerful choice in a range of water conditions, but it excels in clear to semi-stained water when a visible yet natural presentation is desired. It is especially potent during periods when the actual male Oikawa are displaying their vibrant mating colors, making it an excellent all-around baitfish color for reservoirs, highland lakes, and shallow river areas.
