PM Skeleton Ayu applies the Megabass Pearl Mica base — a soft, pearlescent finish rather than a hard metallic one — to the ayu, Japan’s much-loved sweetfish, using a translucent, faintly see-through body that gives the bait its ‘skeleton’ name. Fine olive shading along the back and a light scale pattern keep the ayu’s natural silhouette intact without the finish ever looking too opaque or heavy.
The translucent Pearl Mica base is particularly effective in clear water and bright sun, where an opaque colour can look unnaturally solid against the light; here, the bait lets light pass through much as a real baitfish’s body does, keeping the presentation subtle. It’s well suited to clear rivers and lake shallows during the ayu’s spring and summer run, fished with a gentle twitch-pause to imitate a lightly wounded or disoriented sweetfish drifting with the current.
