The Black Viper is a strikingly dramatic and rare color from the Megabass Respect Series, renowned for its menacing, high-contrast aesthetics and limited-edition status. It is built upon a base of deep gloss black, which is complemented by a dark blood red underbelly to create a powerful, stark silhouette. What sets the Black Viper apart is the intricate detailing: the back has a subtle crackle pattern that allows a hint of beautiful blue-purple Illusion (IL) paint to shine through, giving the lure a subtle, bewitching aura that lives up to its “viper” namesake.
Initially, Black Viper was an extremely rare color exclusive to the discontinued Quiet Griffon SR-X crankbait, but it has since been released in limited runs across other classic lures like the Pop-Max and the Vision Oneten LBO. Its nearly jet-black body with a clear, dark silhouette makes it an extremely effective choice in conditions where light penetration is low. This includes low-light periods such as morning and evening, on cloudy days, or in stained and muddy water, where the extreme contrast is visible even in low visibility.
