Megabass Respect 80
The SG Small Mouth Bass colorway is a venerable classic, first appearing in 1996 as a companion to the GG Bass (Largemouth) pattern. The “SG” stands for Super Ghost, indicating a focus on blending with the water rather than a massive flash. This pattern is characterized by its subtle brown and gold hues paired with exquisite transparency, an intentional design choice to counter the high-flash approach of its sister color.
This smallmouth color’s key strength lies in its performance in darker water environments — specifically, those stained blackwater fields where tannins seep from accumulated leaves and driftwood. The blend of brown and gold creates a vague, lifelike presence in these dark conditions, appealing to bass that may be feeding on smaller bass or forage with a low-flash, camouflaged appearance. It is a finesse color, powerful when the bass are pressured or when the water’s natural dark tint makes a high-visibility lure look out of place.
