Megabass Respect 1
The Megabass Kohoku SP is a historically significant and highly sought-after collector’s colour, distinguished as the very first Respect Color in the Megabass line-up. Its aesthetics are rooted in the appearance of Lake Biwa’s spawning beds, featuring a mysterious, faintly glowing purple pearl base across the body, meticulously contrasted with a hint of dark green on the lure’s back. This unique colouration gives the lure a subtle yet impactful presence in the water, lending it a timeless visual appeal that has cemented its place as one of Megabass’s most memorable and collectible patterns.
The effectiveness of the Kohoku SP lies in its distinct light-reflecting properties, which were originally conceived by Yuki Ito over 20 years ago for fishing Lake Biwa from a bass boat. The combination of the purple pearl and dark green is particularly effective in early spring when water temperatures are low, and also excels in shallow areas with muddy grass as the water begins to clear. This colour pattern became widely popular after being publicized in a magazine by Ito, and it’s a known producer of explosive catches of big bass. While its most legendary application was on the Live X Revenge and older Deep X 100/200 models fished with a slow, deliberate motion, the Kohoku SP colour has since been applied across various Megabass lures, proving its capability to tempt even wary fish during challenging conditions.
