Megabass Respect 44
The Genroku color is one of the most historically significant and sought-after patterns in the Megabass collector community, originating as an “old taste color” on lures like the PopX and PopMax before being re-released as a Special Color (SP-C) and part of the limited-run Respect Series, containing additional lures like the Vision Oneten. The name comes from the Genroku era of Japanese history (Edo period), and the lure’s unique aesthetics reflect this era, incorporating advanced, complex hand-painting techniques. The pattern is distinguished by a colorful, intricate design, detailed large and small scale patterns enhanced with IL (Illusion) paint, and a distinctive crack pattern painted on the belly, making it an artisan masterpiece that is produced in far fewer numbers than standard colors.
In terms of fishing application, the Genroku color’s proven track record primarily stems from its original success on topwater baits like the PopX and PopMax, where its elaborate, high-contrast patterns are extremely effective. The complex color scheme provides a visually stimulating target that can draw aggressive strikes, even in clear water or during active feeding periods. Due to the difficulty and number of painting processes involved, the limited production and collectible nature of this color, especially on specific models like the I-Wing 135, mean it is highly valued by anglers for its unique ‘fish-catching’ presence and as a prized piece of tackle art.
