Bloody Hasu is a striking and aggressive reimagining of the classic Japanese “Hasu” (pale chub) pattern, defined by its visceral “injured” accents. While a standard Hasu pattern focuses on shimmering silvers and subtle blue-violet scales, the Bloody Hasu – released as a PS Kizu shop exclusive – introduces vivid UV-red splatter paint across the gill plates and flanks. This “blood splatter” effect is designed to absorb invisible UV light and emit a fluorescent glow, creating a high-contrast focal point that mimics a wounded baitfish in distress. This is the original, standard hue. Not the matte ‘frozen’ version that followed later.
Technically, the Bloody Hasu is a tactical choice for triggering reaction strikes in high-pressure or clear-water environments where fish have become conditioned to standard forage patterns. The addition of the UV-reactive red pigments serves as a strike indicator, providing a specific target for predators even in low-light conditions or deeper water columns where red light normally disappears first. In application, this color is a favorite for the Vision Oneten when fished with a sharp, erratic jerk-and-pause cadence; the sudden flash of “blood” during the darting movement signals a vulnerable meal that a bass can’t afford to pass up. Because it was developed as a limited store-exclusive run, its rarity makes it a prized collector’s item, but its true value lies in its ability to draw bites in tough water by breaking the visual monotony of a standard baitfish school.
